We need to establish a new norm that recognizes and promotes continuous growth in various aspects of life, including intellectual and emotional development. Learning how to build Your Mental Armour and to engage in better conversations with others and ourselves is a crucial part of this growth. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of the transformative power of mental training, a deficiency that can lead to unnecessary suffering.

Meditation is a critical aspect of mental training and to build and to Your Mental Armour, yet it is often omitted from education and healthcare. Historically, physical exercise was once viewed as unnecessary, and smoking was falsely considered healthy, demonstrating how societies can hold misguided beliefs. Similarly, meditation is often underestimated, despite its profound impact on understanding our mental lives. It helps in managing emotions like anger, fear, and sadness, allowing for a healthier emotional response to life's challenges.

The Problem and Solution to Fragmented Attention

In today's digital age, our attention is constantly fragmented, making tasks like reading a book for an hour without distraction increasingly challenging. The constant battle for our attention, often lost to smartphones and social media, has significant implications. This digital dependency is evident in everyday life, from texting while crossing the street to parents distracted from their children.
 

Mental (concentration) training such as meditation offers a pathway to win the battle for your attention and better understand our minds. While meditation with time can be integrated into activities like jogging or playing music, its benefits are most effectively realized through deliberate and isolated practice. Without explicit training in meditating, you are unlikely to experience the profound changes in perception and self-awareness it offers.
